A major population center on the Islands, Providenciales is nearly 100 square kilometers and is one of the most populous areas in the Islands. With direct international slights to the International Airport, the sub-island serves as a gateway for regional travel and has a local population exceeding 30,000.
Although modern, the Island operates based upon manpower: there are no commuters cars or trucks on the Island and nearly everything is accessible by way of foot or bike. In recent decades, the Island expanded in golf courses, casino resorts and tourist attractions, which has drawn developers and tourists from throughout the world. While spread out over the island, the majority of major development is centrally located off of Grace Bay, with its pristine sands and beaches.
In the interior of the Islands, the natural hills feature a variety of Caribbean vegetable and animal life. As a result, naturalists can enjoy the interior of the Island, while traditional travelers can revel in the city and urban luxuries in its urban core. With recent development, there is a unique mixture of natural habitat, historic homes and recent commercial development. For those seeking a more traditional experience, the Chalk Sound National Park is prominent on the Western part of the Island, and is known for its natural beauty.
Those seeking water adventures can enjoy the Northwestern Point Marine Park, which features coral reefs and several natural lakes that are ideal for fishing, water sports or viewing. In fact, the Island is diverse enough to suit nearly any type of interests. The Park is complete with several private resorts for a mini-excursion off of the beaten path.
